Dear Fathers & Sons...
First and foremost, this trip is dedicated to two very special dads, Charles O'Connor and Richard Petrarca. Our fathers are very special people not only to our families, but to anyone who has had the pleasure of meeting them.
It was our fathers who taught us to play and love the game of baseball. Our fathers were there for our first catch, drove us to our little league games and eventually to our first major league baseball game. (With the help of our mothers of course!)
Several years ago on a Memorial Day Weekend, my best friend Richie P and my wife Kelly, traveled to Houston to see our Philadelphia Phillies. During the visit, by chance we met a father and son from Bucks County, PA who for over 15 years, had traveled to various stadiums throughout the country. As time passed, Richie and I discussed ways to continue to meet for games every year no matter where we were living. Hence the idea for the annual Father and Son Baseball Trip was born.
As we grow older, our lives become more hectic as jobs get busier and our families grow. This has made me realize how important time is, and how we can't waste a single day.
I visualize this trip not only as a "guy's weekend", but a moment that we will always remember and one day pass down to our sons.
I believe we have begun an important tradition and I hope that you will join us on our trips every year.
Joey O (Very Grateful Son)
